About Anne

Anne Hoffman began rug hooking in 1999 after seeing a friend's rug. She was then introduced to Marilyn Schmidt of Rock Creek Rugs, who lived only a few blocks away from Anne. Marilyn taught Anne so much about rug hooking and became a cherished mentor, who continues to be an inspiration.  Anne received her McGown accreditation in 2012 at the South Central McGown Teachers Workshop in Texas.  She is a past ATHA Regional Representative for Region 8, and has held several officer positions with the State Line Rug Hookers ATHA chapter. Anne was the Biennial Chair for the 2022 ATHA convention in the Kansas City area.

Anne and long-time friend, Jane Rowe, created Heart & Hare Rugs in March 2007 and grew their classes & product offerings. Jane retired from the business in December 2023 in order to focus on a family business. Anne is the host of the Kansas City Hook-In that typically takes place the 4th Saturday in March each year. She offers weekly classes on Fridays and her home studio is open by appointment. In 2025 she's honored to be a Sauder Village Rug Hooking Week vendor, August 12 - 16, 2025.

Anne loves to share her expertise in rug hooking and is available for private workshops, camps and rug school instruction. She says, "Have hook will travel!"
